Climate

Britain has a mild and equable climate all year round thanks to the Gulf Stream's impact on the dominant south-westerly winds. There are rarely temperature extremes, but weather patterns fluctuate frequently. The average temperature varies from 40°F in the winter to roughly 60°F in the summer. Wintertime lows of 20°F can happen sometimes, and summertime highs of 90°F can happen sporadically. 30 to 50 inches of rainfall annually on average, usually equally spaced out throughout the course of the year. However, frequent cloud cover keeps sunlight to an average of 6-7 hours per day in the summer and 1-2 hours per day in the winter.
