Admission criterias:

For international students admission requirement to study in German Colleges and program have the following criterias to be fulfilled:

  1. Hochschulzugangsberechtigung (HZB) oder Abitur.

    The term stands for University Entrance Qualifications in German language. It is a criteria evaluated on foreign certificates by the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural affairs. School Leaving certificates entitles students to study under certain conditions. However, for technical entrance college qualification you cannot study for free at the University of Berlin.

  2. Test AS

    Aptitude test of academic Test AS measures candidates general subject related cognitive capabilities and can be used to measure scholastic aptitude. It gives students information about their individual ranking compared to other applicants.

  3. Studienkolleg

    It is a bridge to study successfully in Germany though your education certificate is not recognized as equivalent. This institution helps students prepare to take final exams which helps thema admission in German Universities.

Financial proof:

You will need a document called Proof of Financial resources to show your capacity to study in Germany financially. Applicants should show that they have 11.208 Euros in their disposal for one year.

You can show proofs of financing from different ways like:

  • Documents certifying income and financial assets

Health insurance

As an international student studying and staying in Germany, health insurance is Mandatory. The premium of student health insurance starts from 1 Euros and minimum premium of 25 Euros. Students Basic Insurance starts from 1.2 Euros, premium insurance from 1.34 Euros, Student insurance liability accident from 0.27 Euros but student’s health insurance is not covered in this policy.

For international students you will not be able to get a student Visa and residence permit if you don’t have health insurance.

The above chart shows the semester wise intakes and corresponding deadlines program wise that includes Foundations, Bachelors and Masters level. There are two semesters, mainly summer and winter. For foundation course Summer intake in month March/April the deadline for intake is by 15 October to 15 November of early year and Winter intakes from September/October deadline is before 15 April or 15 May.

For Bachelors programs the summer intakes are March/April for which the deadline is 15 January of that academic year and winter semester from Sept/October the deadline is by 15 July of that year.

For Masters level summer intake in March and April the deadline for intake is in October/ November of last year and Winter semester from September and October commencing the deadline for intake is by April/may.
