Geography and best places in Germany

Germany, also known as Deutschland in Central Europe, covers a territory of 357,021 square kilometers. It shares borders with eleven European Countries namely Denmark in the North, Austria in the South, Poland and the Czech Republic in the East, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands in the West, and France in the Southwest.

German has five distinct geographic areas which are flat German lowlands from North to South, hills and low Mountains of Mittelgebirge, west and South German plateaus and Mountains, South German alpine foothills, and the lake Country and the Bavarian Alps.

Warmer Mediterranean air blows in South Germany terrains and the North Alps have colder climates, there are warm summers in areas bordering France. Overall, the Climate of Germany is temperate and marine and oceanic and continental in the Southern regions.

There are rivers, caves, and tidal flats on the land surface and it is rich in minerals and natural resources such as coal, iron ore, potash, lignite, uranium, copper, natural gas, salt, nickel, and water. The land area of Germany is 348672 sq. Kilometers and the Water area is 8350 Sq. kilometers. The highest point known as Zugspitze is at 2963 meters and the lowest point is Neuendorf Bei Wilster at -3.54 meters.

Germany has sixteen states and there are fifteen international airports for tourists to come here. The most famous landmarks in Germany are the Berlin wall, Brandenburg gate, Zwinger, Dresden, Theaterplatz square, Franconia, Neuschwanstein and Lidenhorf, rhine valley, German football museum in Dortmund, Cologne Cathedral, the old barge and natural resorts of Frisian Islands.
