A landform known as a monolith is composed of a single, sizable stone or rock. The rock or stone, which is frequently made up of inventive or metamorphic rock, is typically exposed via erosion. One of the most famous monoliths in the entire world is Uluru, which is located in the middle of Australia. The length of it is 3.6 kilometers (2.2 miles). The Uluru crimson monolith has a radius of 9.4 kilometers and stands 430 meters (1,160 feet) above the desert plain (roughly 5.8 miles). The oxidation of iron minerals on the rock's surface by oxygen in the air is what gives Uluru its red color. Uluru also goes by the moniker Ayres Rock.

Among the notable monoliths is Mount Augustus. Tourism advertising is frequently referred to as the "largest monolith in the world." The size of Mt. Augustus is twice that of Uluru. It is situated in Western Australia's Mount Augustus National Park. Its plateau-shaped top rises roughly 717 meters (2,352 feet) over a stony, red sandplain of desert terrain at a height of 1,105 meters (3,625 feet).
