The average tuition cost for an international student at a typical public college in the United States is $26,290 USD per year, according to Times Higher Education. A typical non-profit private college would charge $35,830 USD per year. In comparison, the annual tuition cost of a Japanese university is roughly half to one-quarter that of a US university. Through our ten-week experiential workshops, you can gain hands-on experience with Japanese art forms and culture at iCLA. You will learn tea ceremony, calligraphy, flower arrangement (ikebana), anime, and Noh theatre in these credit-bearing workshops. You can also learn to play a traditional Japanese instrument such as the koto or shakuhachi, study the mountain aesthetic practices of Shugendo, and experiment with martial arts such as Karate, Aikido, Namba, and Judo. YGU has many martial arts clubs where you can train in arts like kyudo and kendo.

All first-year iCLA students, including Japanese students, are required to live in our on-campus dormitories.
