Study abroad only after following all legal procedures: Home ministry

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) has urged students traveling overseas to pursue their studies to depart the country only after successfully completing the requirements set by the national and the educational institution there.

The MoHA's spokeswoman and joint secretary Phanindra Mani Pokharel said in a statement on Monday that the agency had heard complaints about students who were defrauded and abandoned abroad while traveling for academic purposes.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), the government has increased its surveillance of unlawful online advertising organizations, unlicensed educational consultancy companies, and individuals who are improperly posing as representatives of different educational institutions abroad.

In addition, Spokesperson Pokharel advised everyone to report or file complaints against such people or groups acting unlawfully at the District Administration Office in Nepal, the closest Police Office, and Nepali diplomatic missions abroad.
